The fast way to add lyrics to a song

Adding lyrics to a video by hand means one caption per line, dragged along a timeline until it matches the vocal, then checked again because it starts half a second early. Auto-caption tools in video editors help a little, but they're built for speech. On a full song they often skip whole verses, pick up one word out of five, or add music-note symbols you have to delete.

Lyrics can appear in a few ways. Karaoke style fills each word with color as it's sung, which works for sing-alongs. Word by word brings each word in on its beat, which suits rap and fast verses. Line by line fades whole lines in, which reads calmly on ballads. All three use the same word timing, so you can switch without re-syncing.

Do I need to know video editing?

No. There's no timeline to learn. If you can paste text and pick from three videos, you can add lyrics to a song. If you do use an editor like Premiere or CapCut, export the finished lyric video here and drop it into your edit.
